Out With the Old. . .

Why is it that the things you have that you use every day and wish would wear out never do, and the things you rarely use and love never last? For the past 13 years (over have of these years have been during our marriage) we have had the same bath towels. They have lasted very long (in fact, too long) and are one of those items that we have that we wish we didn't have.

Several years ago I bought some white towels with the thought that some day we'd use them when our current towels wore out. Those red, green, and striped towels still haven't worn out, although now they are several different shades of red and green, but still very usable.

On Saturday I pulled out those coveted white towels, gave them a wash, and now they will be used. The 13-year old towels are "throwing in the towel". As much as I'd like to Goodwill them, they will remain with us for who knows how many more years, especially since they will make good packing material in a few months. And then, who knows the fate of these faithful towels.

Do it! You deserve luxuries, even if it is just towels.
